High River Minor Soccer Travel teams play in the Foothills Soccer Division of the Alberta Soccer Association (ASA). Though still classified as a Grassroots program, more emphasis is placed on soccer skills and position play.
Each division plays 1-2 games per week and has 1-2 practices per week for a total commitment of 2-3 times per week.
Our away games are played in surrounding communities like Black Diamond, Claresholm, Nanton, Red Deer Lake (south of Calgary), Vulcan and Okotoks. Car pooling with other parents and coaches is common place.
Our rosters are controlled by the High Country League. Teams must have a minimum of 11 players and a maximum of 18 players and all teams are co-ed. There are no tryouts or player cuts that happen.
Our Travel Soccer Players are provided team shorts and socks to keep, and we provide Jerseys for the season. Shorts are a requirement regardless of weather, but can be worn over leggings or sweats in inclement weather.
Shin Pads are a requirement and we recommend outdoor soccer cleats or a good pair of runners.
