Spring Soccer April 2021 Update
Hello Soccer Fans…. Remember when we opened registration at the beginning of March, I said the Theme this year would be “flexibility”. Well it has indeed been an exciting 6 weeks filled with tonnes of confusing and conflicting messages. I wanted to thank the families of the over 150 participants that have signed up, we are approaching 50% of our expected capacity in the full program.
Personally I have been in several meeetings with Foothills District, High Country, our HRMS Board and ASA trying to gain insight with what is happening. It is all still a guess.
What we do know… We do know that COVID cases throughout the Province including the Variants of Concern are on the rise as is the Positivity rate of testing. Today’s announcements of the CBE and Calgary Catholic Boards moving to online learning would say that we aren’t making progress. While our proposed start date is still 2.5 weeks away (May 3rd) we do not have a clear plan to start up from the Chief Medical Officer or the Premier’s office, this is the first step.
While I am the eternal optimist, I feel we have to start to plan for a shift of our season. I would ask those who have registered already and those who are considering it but waiting for clearer information to give a quick click on the survey below on what options would work for you (4 mandatory, 1 Optional question)… Basically there are Five options
1. Play a shortened season Starting when we can and finish by June 26th
2. Play a full season when we can, June/July or July/Aug.
3. Play a Fall Season in Aug/Sept
4. Play a split seaon in June and Sept
5. Or Cancel.
