Hello Soccer Fans, It’s been several weeks since our last update and Soccer was scheduled to start Monday.         We have met with Alberta Soccer on numerous occasions, chatted with the town, and reviewed the results of the survey that almost 100 of you filled out (thank-you).

We are sad to say that we are no closer to a seeing a soccer start date than we were in our last communication.     We could start a socially distanced, training only program as some clubs and other sports have done, but the reality is Soccer is a close contact sport and we want our players to play, not just run drills.
At this time (subject to new info from the Chief Medical Officer of Alberta) it is unlikely that we will see any soccer in May.   However, your responses to our survey said that we should run soccer when we can, so that is our current plan.
As soon as the Green Light is given by ASA and the Town we will release schedules and ready our fields.     We are hoping for June/July but could extend into August.       Your feedback told us that you like to be away in the summer for weekends, so I can tell you that when we play into July/August, there will be no Saturdays, just 2 nights per week.
Update for Travel:   The High Country League has effectively cancelled the season as the needs of each community are a bit different, however, there was a general agreement that clubs who are running will play regular “friendlies” against one another in a series of Home and Home games.    So there will be Travel, just no standings or medals at the end.
Refunds: I know this is news isn’t what any of us wanted, and if you are unwilling/unable to commit to Summer Soccer, we totally understand and you can request a full refund at info@highriversoccer.ca.       We will be working over the next 2 weeks to build out a tentative field plan and schedule for the summer and will communicate that by age group.     You can request a refund right up to the first night if the new program doesn’t work for you.
Registration remains open and we will be in touch soon.
Cheers and see you on the pitch soon
